Here is Why I Haven;t Been Around...

Well, Dear ones, the verdict is in…signed sealed and delivered…I will be having one, maybe two major leg surgeries. My thigh bone is a mess! Bone is overlapping bone…again…but there is also a broken off nail in there and a run-away rod sinking into new bone on its own. The legg is now about 3 inches too short! Pretty gory for Halloween…ya think?

My case is now moved to a trauma reconstruction specialist who. As stoic as he seemed, patted and rubbed me on the shoulder and told me I would walk again!!! This was on the second day I saw him…at first he seemed so stern, then showed me he has a very real “human” side…I know and feel confident that he is the right man for the job!

The 1^st surgery is set for Nov. 18^th…the 2^nd surgery is not set as it depends on the 1^st surgery healing. I will have “dead people” bone grafts in me (shades of Frankenstein!) but LeeAnn reminds me these people donated their bone to heal people like me…that it is a gift and I am thankful.

So…hang in there with me for the long haul, please…I thank each and every one of you as my friends…

My best get well and heal fast wishes go to you as it sounds like a long and painful process but if it gets you walking properly again then it will be worth it.

Carly Anne I just stumbled upon your blog from a link on another blog. Wow...this is some major surgery your facing. Will keep you in my thoughts and it seems you have super confidence in your doctor which is also half the battle.

I am praying for you, Carly Anne. Hope all goes well and that you have a good recovery time. There surgeries take so much time to heal. I had a very minor skin surgery in September and the doctor said to expect it to take six months for the plastic surgery for the skin cancer they removed to heal.

Allan graduates! Masters of Science!

Masters in Engineering from CU!!! Just last week we went to Colorado for my eldest son's graduation from Colorado University at Boulder. He now has his Masters in Environmental Engineering. He received his Bachelors in Chemical Engineering from USF where he was the President of Engineers Without Borders.

He has always had an interest in providing sanitary drinking water to those in other countries who have none. His most recent trip took him to Africa for a few months! He had quite the experience!

My Son Matthew, Birds of Prey!!!

This is a picute of my son,Matthew, who is the Coordinator for Eagle Watch in Florida!

Audubon’s Center for Birds of Prey opened its doors in 1979. Thirty one years later, the Center is the premier raptor rehabilitation facility in the eastern United States. Raptors treated at the Center include hawks, owls, kites, falcons and eagles. In addition to birds of prey, it also cares for vultures, taking every opportunity to educate the public about these very valuable members of the stork family.

Annual patient admissions average 600, with a release rate of 40%. Approximately 10% of admissions annually are Bald Eagles, and the Center is renowned for its eagle care. To date the Center has released 407 eagles back to the wild.

Non-releasable birds may live out their lives at the Center as education ambassadors. Young birds with permanent disabilities are trained to the glove and become “working birds”, traveling to schools, festivals and other events. They interact with over 20,000 people annually.

The Center is located in a suburban neighborhood on Lake Sybelia in Maitland. In addition to over 20 species of raptors and vultures on display, there are educational displays, a butterfly garden, gazebo and wetlands on the lake and Audubon House, a restored 1924 bungalow.
